For the Friends

So many of those close to me have been going through storm after storm. Grief. Loss. Frustration. Opposition. Conflict. Weariness. Doubt. Guilt. Loneliness. Anxiety. The list goes on.

For me personally, there are two things that help me the most during those inevitable valleys. The Word and worship. Nothing sustains me like reading God’s Word, praying God’s Word, and singing God’s Word.

When our hearts don’t have the energy to lift up our own praise. When our souls are so heavy we can lift only our eyes to heaven. When our minds and bodies are so overwhelmed we can’t take one more step forward on this earthly ground.

But no matter what–no matter our circumstances or how we feel, we can always make incredible strides forward in Kingdom territory. When we pray even when we don’t feel like it. When we read even when we don’t feel like it. When we sing even when we don’t feel like it. These are all things that are giant leaps into the arms of our Father, towards the Rock that is so vastly higher than we.

So over the past few weeks, and I have interceded for all my friends in these hard seasons, I have been compiling a list of songs and Scriptures to send to them, some only for one person and some for everyone. I decided to share them here as well in hopes that one more weary traveler is encouraged to keep on this faith marathon. In hopes that one more believer would lift their eyes to Jesus, the only prize worth every ounce of this temporal pain. Below is a few Scriptures God has prompted me to pray over specific people at different times, and under that is the playlist. I hope you are encouraged. We have hope because Jesus is the anchor of our souls, no wave that is currently crashing over you is any match for the One that made it. Read these words. They are Truth. They are life. Pray them for yourself and people you know that are needing some light in their own places.

It’s a privilege to pray with you and for you. Feel free to leave what Scripture/song encouraged you today and how I can be specifically praying on your behalf.

Stand firm in the faith friends,

–R.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29

In the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. Romans 4:17

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” Genesis 15:1

Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. Daniel 10:12

And as for the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was said to you by God: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not God of the dead, but of the living.” Matthew 22:31-32

For the Lord comforts Zion;
    he comforts all her waste places
and makes her wilderness like Eden,
    her desert like the garden of the Lord;
joy and gladness will be found in her,
    thanksgiving and the voice of song. Isaiah 51:3

Was it not you who dried up the sea,
    the waters of the great deep,
who made the depths of the sea a way
    for the redeemed to pass over? Isaiah 51:10

Then shall your light break forth like the dawn,
    and your healing shall spring up speedily;
your righteousness shall go before you;
    the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Isaiah 58:8

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
    you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’ Isaiah 58:9

And the Lord will guide you continually
    and satisfy your desire in scorched places
    and make your bones strong;
and you shall be like a watered garden,
    like a spring of water,
    whose waters do not fail. Isaiah 58:11

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor.
No good thing does he withhold
    from those who walk uprightly. Ps. 84:11
